Case Study - Dino - a very lucky cat!
Dino’s owner had gone overseas for a month and had left Dino and his brother Bam Bam in our cattery. They are both around 2 years old and seemed healthy at their vaccinations in April.
About 2 weeks after being in the cattery one of our nurses went down to give the cats a bit of extra attention before we closed on Saturday morning. She was horrified to find Dino flat out on his side struggling to breathe. Read more

Case Study - Jake
Jake – a 10month old male miniature pinscher was attacked by 2 dogs in the meola reef dog park when he was waiting to meet his friends. Jake is only 4.5kg and the dogs were a boxer and a bull terrier and were both very large. They each grabbed him around his chest and shook him like a soft toy He was very lucky to survive the inital attack. He was rushed into Vetcare where he was in a bad way with large wounds over his left chest and deep punctures in his neck and shoulders. The worst danger however was the shock. Alex rushed him to the surgery and started emergency treatment. Warning some of the images may be upsetting!
Samson Overheats
Samson was examined and his temperature was 41 degrees celcius. We couldn't hear his heart as his
panting was so loud and laboured, he was immediately taken into the surgery and put in a bath of cold water with a flow of oxygen put on his face to give him a cool breeze and to help him get enough oxygen in his lungs. Read more
Farewell to Rommel
Many of you will be sad to hear that our dear friend Rommel has lost his fight with bone cancer. He was always a huge goofy, playful personality at VetCare, wrestling with his toy collection and taking power naps. He would greet his legion of friends with squeals of enthusiasm, more like a little puppy than the 50kg of muscle that he was. Read more
